Why Jacob Marcos Had to Break

By Ernie Rivera

When I created Jacob Marcos, I wasn’t writing a hero.

I was writing a man who was once a hero—and didn’t know if he could ever be one again.

He was stronger than any soldier on record. A weapon forged in a lab, sanctioned by a country that called him “The American Hammer.” He was supposed to be invincible.

But invincibility has a cost.

What happens when your whole identity is built on being unstoppable… and one day, you stop?

That’s the question I wanted Citadel Lost to ask.And not just ask, but bleed for.

Jacob’s story is one of physical ruin, emotional collapse, and the brutal, beautiful road to redemption. He’s a myth on the outside—and completely shattered on the inside. And when he sees his family in danger, he doesn’t just rise to the occasion…

He unravels trying to protect them.

This isn’t about superpowers. It’s about a man trying to hold onto a legacy that might be killing him. It’s about what happens when your strength is no longer enough—and love is the only weapon left.

That’s why Jacob had to break.Because some stories aren’t about saving the world. They’re about trying not to destroy the people who still believe in you.

The teaser drops in July. The proof-of-concept short arrives in August. And Citadel Lost will show you just how much pain a myth can carry.

Thank you for following this journey.

More soon.
